Kohli's social media activity caused a stir
One cricketer who knows it better than anyone is none other than Virat Kohli, arguably the most popular cricketer in the world at present.
The former India captain has close to 271 million followers on Instagram. He is by far the most popular cricketer on social media. Kohli in a meme storm
While Virat Kohli has done extremely well to stay away from controversies on social media, he recently landed in one just because of one 'like'. The right-handed batsman recently took to social media to wish his wife Anushka Sharma on her birthday.
However, his name started doing the rounds for a different reason. Virat Kohli liked a post from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur on Instagram. The eagle-eyed fans noticed it quickly, and it led to considerable chatter online. The incident also led to some wild speculations among the fans.
Virat Kohli responds:
With things getting out of control, Virat Kohli has not taken long to react to the controversy. The batting superstar, on Friday (May 2), took to Instagram to issue a clarification. Without mentioning the name of the actress, the former India captain addressed the controversy, writing:
"I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding."

Meanwhile, Kohli is currently plying his trade for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL 2025. He will be in action next on May 3 when RCB hosts Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
