In reply Shoaib Akhtar picked New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as his choice for best Test captain at present. Well, not many would argue on Shoaib Akhtar’s choice especially after the way Williamson has performed as a batsman and a captain in the ongoing season. Last month, he scored a double century against West Indies before scoring a century against Pakistan in the first Test.

Williamson was handed over the reins of captaincy by Brendon McCullum who retired in 2016. And since then, he has done extremely well as captain. New Zealand are currently second in the ICC Test Rankings and could claim the first spot if they beat Pakistan in the ongoing second Test. Earlier this week, Williamson also became the top-ranked Test batsman for the first time in his career. A win over Pakistan in the ongoing Test will further boost New Zealand’s chances of making to the final of the ICC World Test Championship final.
