India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a massive milestone in international cricket. The premier batter is on the verge of becoming the third-ever Indian to play 600 innings across formats after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Virat Kohli is likely to achieve the feat in the upcoming third Test of the series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The last match of the three-match Test series between the teams will be taking place from Friday (1st November) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli will become the 8th player overall to play 600 innings in international cricket

Kohli, who has played 199 innings in Tests, 283 in ODIs, and 117 in T20Is, will become the 8th player overall to play 600 innings. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 782 innings in his international career, followed by Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene (725) and Ricky Ponting (668) of Australia in the top three.

This will also be Kohli's 200th inning in the longest format of the game. He recently became the third Indian batter to go past 9000 runs in Tests. So far, he has scored 9035 runs in 199 innings at an average of 48.31 including 29 centuries and 31 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli struggling with the bat in the ongoing Test series so far

With the India National Cricket Team being down 2-0 in the series, Kohli is expected to play a vital role for his team. The right-hander has been undergoing a lean phase with the bat and would want to silence all his critics with the bat in the final game of the series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

Kohli didn't have a great outing with the bat in the ongoing Test series so far. He slammed a half-century in the first game but failed again in the second Test. The batter managed scores of 1 and 17 across the two innings of the Pune Test as India suffered another big defeat.

The last Test against New Zealand will be a great opportunity for Virat Kohli to regain his form ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He has been putting in hard yards and it won't be a surprise if he ends up getting a big score in the final game of the series. His return to form will be a massive boost for the team, especially with WTC's final place on the line.

Virat Kohli has a great record at the Wankhede Stadium

Kohli has had a great record at the Wankhede Stadium. In the 5 games that he has played for the team, the right-hander has managed 469 runs at an average of 58.62 including a double-century. He would be hoping to cash on it and play an impactful knock for his team with the bat.

Kohli has struggled to make an impact for his team in Test cricket in 2024. So far, in five Tests, he has aggregated 245 runs at 27.22 with a highest score of 70.
