Furthermore, the former RCB legend shared his honest thoughts about Virat Kohli. ABD revealed that he didn’t like Virat at first because of how competitive he was on the field, but once they became teammates and got to know each other, they drew closer and are now like brothers.

Virat is like one of my cricketing brothers: ABD
De Villiers added, “Virat is like one of my cricketing brothers, someone I really grew fond of when I got to know him better. He's an absolute pain to play against, so before I knew him, I didn't really like him a lot because he was so good and so competitive, very similar to me with that competitive nature.”
Speaking about the former South African batter’s 13-year-long IPL career, he represented only two teams, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and RCB, in the tournament. De Villiers scored 5162 runs in 184 matches (170 innings) at an average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 151.68. He also has three centuries and 40 fifties to his name in the IPL.
Notably, RCB are currently sitting in second place on the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points, and they are now just one win away from making it to the top 4. They have three league matches remaining — one each against KKR, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants. And they would love to win at least two matches for the top-two finish in the table.
