Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has paid an emotional tribute to the Bollywood icon Nana Patekar following his shocking death at the age of 75 on Thursday, October 8. Patekar was one of the most respected and powerful actors in Indian cinema.

Patekar passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. The veteran actor was found unconscious at his home and was rushed to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula at around 5.20 am. Doctors and medical staff immediately began CPR after he was brought to the hospital.

Nana Patekar could not be revived despite around 45 minutes of continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the hospital in Dona Paula. His death has left the Indian fans in deep shock.

As soon as the news broke out, tributes had been pouring in for the legendary actor, with Virat Kohli becoming the latest to pay his homage to Patekar.

The former Indian captain remembered Patekar as a true legend of Indian cinema and said that his work and legacy would continue to live on for generations. Earlier, “Truly special talent”: Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane mourn Nana Patekar’s death.

Kohli posted on X (formerly Twitter): “A true legend of Indian cinema. His work and legacy will live on for generations. Rest in peace, Nana Patekar ji. Om Shanti. 🙏”

Nana Patekar’s demise leaves Sachin Tendulkar heartbroken, hails his grounded personality

Meanwhile, Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar also paid an emotional tribute to Nana Patekar. Tendulkar described Patekar as a straightforward and grounded person whose honesty was clearly visible in the characters he played.

The legend also highlighted Patekar’s work in both Marathi and Hindi cinema and expressed deep sadness over his passing and offered his condolences to the actor’s family and loved ones.

Sachin Tendulkar posted on X: “I remember Nana Patekar as a very straightforward and grounded person. His work had that same honesty to it. Whether it was in Marathi or Hindi, he always brought something very real to the characters he played. Very sad to hear about his passing. My condolences to his family and loved ones. Om Shanti.”

Nana Patekar’s old video praising Virat Kohli goes viral after actor’s demise

As the world is in grief over the death of Nana Patekar, an old video of the legendary actor praising Virat Kohli has gone viral on social media once again. In the clip, Patekar spoke about his love for Kohli, and his words showed how he admired the Indian cricket star.

Patekar was heard saying in that viral video, "Virat ek aisa player hai jise main bahut chahta hu. Agar Virat jaldi out ho jata hai toh mujhe khaana khaane ki iccha nahi hoti. (Virat Kohli is my favorite. When he gets out early, I don't like to eat food."

Notably, Patekar made his acting debut with Gaman in 1978 and went on to rule both Hindi and Marathi cinema. He treated fans to decades of his unique acting style, from powerful villainous roles in Parinda and Agni Sakshi to his memorable comic performance in Welcome.

Nand was honoured with the National Film Award three times, four Filmfare Awards, and two Maharashtra State Film Awards, as well as Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to cinema and the arts.
