Virat Kohli in blazing form but RCB face huge top-two test against LSG

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been in great form for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2026, where he has so far amassed 379 runs in 9 games at an average of over 54 and a strike rate of over 165. RCB is now gearing up to face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 7 in their next IPL 2026 clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Well, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are standing at a very crucial point in IPL 2026. The defending champions’ upcoming game against the LSG can completely change their season. While RCB are still favorites to reach the playoffs, this match has become extremely important for their top-two finish.

At the moment, RCB ranked third on the points table with 12 points from 9 games, but the competition for the top-two finish is tight. If RCB manage to beat LSG, they will take a big step towards finishing in the top two, which gives teams a huge advantage in the playoffs.

But if they lose, things could suddenly become difficult for them. Even after a defeat against LSG, RCB may still qualify for the playoffs, but teams finishing in the top two get an extra chance to reach the final, so this match matters a lot to them to get that benefit.
