The members of the ground staff, meanwhile, were taking off the covers after some morning rain. However, one of the members of the staff tried to touch Virat Kohli's feet as the other members looked on. The staff was quickly taken aback by another ground staff member as Kohli continued his way.

The Kanpur Test is a highly important match for Virat Kohli as he is desperately in search of some runs here. Kohli's form in Test cricket hasn't been great recently. Before the Chennai Test, he last played a Test earlier this year against South Africa.
He missed the home Test series against England due to personal reasons. It's been more than a year since Kohli scored a Test hundred. His last Test century came against West Indies at Port of Spain in July 2023 when he scored 121 in the first innings of the Test.
Virat Kohli's recent form
In the recent Test match at Chennai, Virat Kohli registered scores of 6 and 17 across both the innings. He was dismissed by fast bowler Hasan Mahmud in the first Test while off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped him in front in the second innings.
Meanwhile, India won the toss and elected to field first at Kanpur. The overcast conditions in the city prompted Rohit Sharma to opt to bowl first. Surprisingly, India went unchanged from the first Test which means the combination of three seamers and two spinners continues.
Rohit Sharma said at the toss that the pitch is soft and he wants to give the seamers to make full use of the overcast conditions. The new ball bowlers bowled well and went past the bat on numerous occasions despite the results not going their way.
Akash Deep Rocks Bangladesh
However, the first change bowler Akash Deep did the trick for India as he picked up two wickets. The youngster dismissed both the Bangladesh openers, Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam, cheaply.
Looking at the black soil pitch, Team India were expected to bring in one spinner into the Playing XI in place of one of the fast bowlers. Both Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were in contention to play but Rohit Sharma decided to go with the same team in the end.
