Nikhil Chaudhary, a 27-year-old all-rounder who has played domestic cricket for Punjab, signed a deal with the Big Bash League franchise Hobart Hurricanes a few months ago. He is the second Indian cricketer to play in the BBL following 2012 U-19 India captain Unmukt Chand. Recently in a brief interview, Nikhil Chaudhary talked about idolizing Virat Kohli and Tim David and his experiences while working with a courier company and a Mexican restaurant in Australia.
Nikhil Chaudhary is having a good BBL season with the bat and the ball for the Hobart Hurricanes. He has scored 72 runs in two innings and has taken three wickets in three matches. Nikhil has a strike rate of 153.19 with the bat and is a good hitter of the ball. In seven overs that he has bowled in the BBL so far he has an economy of 6.71 which is very impressive for a spinner in T20 leagues. He also has an average of 15.67 with the ball.
Nikhil Chaudhary is a batting all-rounder and he made his T-20 debut for Punjab in the interstate T20 tournament. He got his opportunity in Australia after he was stuck there during the COVID-19 pandemic on a travel visa. Nikhil used to actively take part in the club cricket matches and used to work as a courier boy for Australia Post to make ends meet. However, he came into the limelight after hitting seven sixes in a match in a club cricket match.
Recently in an interview, he talked about how he idolises Virat Kohli. He said, “I’m a big fan of his aggression and obviously his skills but how good he is as a cricketer. I have been totally following him for the last 10 years and he has been growing and growing.”
He also shared his experience of working in a Mexican restaurant and as a courier boy. ” When I moved here I started working in a Mexican restaurant bar. I talked to my mum, I was pretty bad with my knives and stuff. I literally cut my index finger so my mum was like you can’t do that you need to find some other job. So I started doing a courier job for Australia Post for the last two years but I quit it like three months ago when I got the contract.

Nikhil Chaudhary could never make it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) even after being in trials for the Mumbai Indians. However, the COVID pandemic changed his life as he was stranded in Brisbane and started actively participating in club cricket matches in Australia. He played grade cricket for Brisbane before landing himself a contract with the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL. Nikhil also talked about Tim David and how he is helping him to be a great finisher.
Hobart Hurricanes are currently mid-table at fifth position with three wins and three defeats in six matches. They will face table toppers Brisbane Heat in their next match which is scheduled on Sunday. Nikhil Chaudhary has played three matches for the Hurricanes and is likely to play this match too as he has shown great skills in the last two matches.
