Sanjay Manjrekar couldn't help but express his dismay at Virat Kohli's shocking dismissal in the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. It was the moment that no one saw coming.

Virat Kohli is known for his disciplined and calculated approach, so his slip-up on the crucial stage of the game was not only unexpected but has left fans and the former Indian cricketer sympathizing with the Indian batting maestro.

Silence in Pune as Virat Kohli falls for just 1 run, Sanjay Manjrekar expresses sympathy

The dashing right-handed batter walked in with his trademark determination and focus but ended up departing for a mere single run, leaving the entire stadium in silence. Virat Kohli’s surprising shot selection raised eyebrows as he fell to a misjudged full toss off Mitchell Santner in the ongoing match.

Santner bowled a low full toss at the middle stump, and Kohli shockingly tried to swing across the line and missed. The ball slipped under his bat and crashed into his middle and leg stumps.

He was also disappointed and frustrated with the way his innings ended, as he walked off after scoring just 1 from 9 balls against New Zealand in Pune. Following his rare error, fans and cricket experts are left questioning what could have caused the usually composed player to attempt such a risky shot.

This unexpected lapse has sparked a buzz across social media, as Kohli’s dismissal was a painful one for Indian cricket team fans and the team, who had pinned their hopes on his experience to steer the innings in the ongoing Pune Test.

Yet, even the greatest can falter, but Sanjay Manjrekar expressed both shock and empathy for the cricket icon. Just after his dismissal, the cricket pandit took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle to share his thoughts on Kohli’s dismissal in Pune against New Zealand.

Manjrekar has described Virat Kohli’s shot selection as the worst shot of his career and mentioned that the former Indian skipper would have been feeling sad for himself as he came out with solid and honest intent to bat against the Kiwis in the ongoing Pune Test.

Sanjay Manjrekar posted on X: “Oh dear! Virat will know himself that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. I got to feel for him because, as always, he came out with solid and honest intent.”

Speaking about the game, the Indian cricket team somehow crossed the 100-run mark in their first innings in the ongoing second Test against New Zealand, but it is unlikely that they can take the lead over the tourists in Pune. Kohli’s wicket triggered India’s batting collapse against the Kiwis.

The hosts have lost their five wickets for just 33 runs after Kohli’s wicket at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Currently, the Indian team is trailing by 150 runs with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar trying to help the team bridge some gap against New Zealand in Pune.
