Virat Kohli Probably Didn’t Win A World Cup But That Doesn’t Make Him A Bad Captain – Clive Lloyd

Legendary West Indies Captain Sir Clive Lloyd believes that skipper Virat Kohli has done a brilliant job for the Indian team in the T20 Internationals and not winning a World Cup doesn’t make him a bad captain.

Virat Kohli has officially quit the T20 and T20 Internationals captaincy now. Kohli had announced that after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 he will step down from the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and he had also said that ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be his last T20 Internationals run as a skipper.

Kohli captained India in 50 T20 International games and won 30 and he had a win percentage of 64.58.

Lloyd said that Kohli has been a “tremendous servant” for the Indian team and the best of Kohli the batsman will soon be witnessed by the cricket fans and pundits.

“The point is he has done extremely well for India over the years. He probably didn’t win a World Cup but that doesn’t make him a bad captain. He has been a tremendous servant for the Indian team and will continue to do so for years to come. People have been talking about his batting and I am sure will witness the best of Kohli with the bat,” said Sir Clive Lloyd while speaking to News nine.

Giving his opinions on the performance of the Indian team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Lloyd said that they didn’t play with full potential in the first two games. However, he was confident that India will make a big comeback in the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He said:

“Well, they didn’t play at their best in the first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. Nonetheless, they still remain one of the best teams in the T20 circuit. They have done exceedingly well in ODIs, T20Is, and Test cricket. They play tough and I am sure they will make a great comeback in the next cycle,”
