Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming ODI series against England remains subject to his fitness. Still, the buzz around the batting maestro intensified further after a video where he was spotted with the former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar for some training amid the India vs England white-ball series.

The India vs England white-ball series has already begun with a rain-washed match in Birmingham. Following the ongoing 5-match T20I series, the Indian cricket team will face England for three ODIs, starting on July 14.

Virat Kohli's participation in the India vs England ODI series remains in doubts

The senior batter was originally named in the 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series. Still, his chances to play in this remain uncertain because of the hamstring injury he received during the IPL 2026 Final while batting for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Days ago, ahead of India's tour of the United Kingdom, he was spotted at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Since then, there have been no concrete reports on the former India captain's current fitness status. The viral video of the batter and Sanjay Bangar comes as a ray of hope for the fans, who are eagerly waiting to see the batter back in action for the Indian cricket team.

Sanjay Bangar played a crucial role as India's former batting coach

Sanjay Bangar was the batting coach of the national cricket team between 2014 and 2019, when Virat Kohli was reaching his prime. Sanjay is among those few people who helped the batter to claim his true potential. So, it is no surprise to see the batter again with the former Team India cricketer to recover himself again for the Indian cricket team.

From the video, viewers can see both of them engaged in a prolonged conversation after greeting each other warmly. The Indian batter walked into the field with his kit bag slung over his shoulder. As per the media reports, both of them were spotted in a long discussion in the middle, as the former cricketer seemingly provided guidance to the star batter.

According to an India Today, Virat Kohli recently underwent an intensive training block in Alibaug and Mumbai alongside Sanjay Bangar. “Reports suggest Kohli recently underwent an intensive training block in Alibaug and Mumbai alongside Bangar, focusing specifically on fine-tuning technical aspects of his batting ahead of the series,” the report claims on July 2.

Virat Kohli's childhood coach shares a heartfelt message

Virat Kohli, who was in good form during the IPL 2026 season to defend the title with RCB, last featured for India in Indore on January 18, 2026, for an ODI match against New Zealand. The series was just a few days ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma claims that people are waiting to see the legendary cricketer back in action for India again.

“Definitely people are very excited, and everybody is excited for Virat. The whole country wants to see him when he is back and, like others, I am also waiting for him to be on the field again,” Rajkumar Sharma said during the Delhi Premier League 2026 auction.
