Pakistan star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has praised ace Indian batter Virat Kohli ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home.

Shaheen Afridi recalled Kohli's match-winning knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022, describing it as the best innings he's ever witnessed.

Kohli has cemented his status as a legendary player in world cricket. The right-handed batter has dominated the sport with many memorable innings in his career.

His unbeaten 82 runs against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup group stage match are special among his many notable performances.

Great Player Like Virat Kohli Could Play Such Innings - Shaheen Afridi

Speaking to Star Sports, Shaheen Afridi said that Kohli's unbeaten 82 runs are the best innings he's ever seen. Afridi highlighted that only a great player like Kohli could play such an innings.

He stated that Virat smashing Haris Rauf's best delivery straight down the ground was unbelievable.

"Virat Kohli is a Great player. And Great player like Kohli could play such innings. That ball was Haris Rauf's best ball and he hit Six on straight down the ground was unbelievable," Shaheen Afridi said on Star Sports.

"Virat Kohli's 82* runs innings, I have never seen a better innings than that Kohli's innings in my career," Afridi added.

India chased a target of 160 set by Pakistan in a thrilling T20 World Cup match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Men in Blue lost four wickets for just 31 runs during the chase.

However, Virat Kohli played a match-winning innings to rescue the team. He helped them to a four-wicket victory on the last ball.

The Indian team needed 31 runs in the final two overs to win. Haris Rauf conceded just three runs from the first four balls of the penultimate over.

However, Virat smashed two sixes off the last two balls of that over. Kohli ended with an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls, including six fours and four sixes.

The 35-year-old batter will be seen in action when the Rohit Sharma-led team takes on the Bangladesh team in the upcoming two-match Test series at home next month.

Shaheen Afridi will lead Pakistan's bowling attack in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test match will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 21 to August 25. Pakistan will face Bangladesh in the final match at the National Stadium in Karachi, starting on August 30.

The left-arm fast bowler has the opportunity to become the first Pakistani bowler to reach 100 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC). Afridi has taken 91 wickets in 24 Test matches at an average of 27.33. He has recorded three five-wicket hauls and nine four-wicket hauls, with best figures of 6-51.
