Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma appointed Delhi State mentor, Vijay Dahiya head coach

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has been appointed as the State Mentor for the men’s teams by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) ahead of the 2026-27 domestic season. The DDCA has also announced its senior men’s coaching and selection staff for the upcoming campaign.

Former India wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya will return as Delhi’s senior men’s chief coach, while KP Bhaskar has been appointed chairperson of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. The new support structure also includes experienced coaches and former domestic players across Delhi’s senior and Under-23 teams.

Rajkumar Sharma Appointed Delhi State Mentor

Rajkumar Sharma, who has coached Virat Kohli since his early years, will serve as the State Mentor for Delhi’s men’s cricket teams. Dronacharya awardee Sunita Sharma has been appointed State Mentor for the women’s teams.

Kshitiz Sharma will continue as an assistant coach with the senior men’s team, while former domestic batter Robin Bisht returns to the Delhi setup as the chief coach of the men’s Under-23 team.

Robin Bisht will lead the men’s Under-23 team, with Mohan Chaturvedi, Rajinder Singh Chawla and Shashi Ranjan joining him as assistant coaches.

Vijay Dahiya, KP Bhaskar Get Key Delhi Roles

Vijay Dahiya has returned to the Delhi setup as the senior men’s chief coach. He will work alongside bowling coaches Sanjeev Sharma and Parvinder Awana, while Kshitiz Sharma and Kuldeep Rawat will serve as assistant coaches.

KP Bhaskar will lead the Senior Men’s Selection Committee as chairperson, with Manu Nayar and Praveen Gupta as members.

The senior men’s support staff also includes trainer Bhavnesh, physiotherapist Avinash Boyat, managers Mahesh Bhati and Sachin Gupta, masseur Vishvas Sharma, throwdown specialist Abhishek Saxena and logistics manager Vivekanand Jha.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the 2026-27 domestic season. Delhi will begin their red-ball campaign on October 11.

Delhi will face Bengal in their Ranji Trophy opener at Eden Gardens before hosting Gujarat in their second game. They will then travel to face Jharkhand before taking on services at home in the fourth round.

After the opening T20 group phase, Delhi will shift to the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December. The team will then return to the Ranji Trophy in January, with the final three league rounds scheduled to begin on January 17, 2027.
