Virat Kohli's Covid-19 Relief Campaign Raises Rs 11 Crore; Indian Skipper "Overwhelmed" By The Donations

Last week India captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, started a fundraiser on Ketto for the Covid-19 relief causes in the country “with the funds going towards ACT Grants.” The power couple had asked their fans to join their initiative and themselves donated INR 2 crore.
The organization is in association with the NGO, United Way of Bengaluru, with the beneficiary being ACT Grants, which, according to its website is a “social change movement for the start-up ecosystem in India”.
The fans have responded promptly to Virat Kohli’s request. And the campaign, which was initially aimed at raising a total of INR 7 crore, has now received donations for over 11 Crore.

Virat Kohli took to Twitter to announce this news; he said he was short of words to express his delight and was overwhelmed to see people coming together to donate for a good cause, and thanked the fans.
“Words fall short to express how overwhelmed we feel to have exceeded our target not once, but twice, thanks to each one of you. To everyone who has donated, shared, & helped in any way, I want to say a big thank you. We are #InThisTogether & we will overcome this together,” Virat Kohli tweeted with a post revealing the sum collected so far.

“Having strong voices like Anushka and Virat help drive fundraising efforts will go a long way towards helping us realise this goal. On behalf of India’s startup ecosystem, ACT Grants is truly grateful to have them join this mission,” PTI quoted Gayatri Yadav, spokesperson ACT Grants, as saying.
Since the IPL 2021 was abruptly suspended last week, the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper will be soon back to his national duties.
Virat Kohli will lead the side in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton on June 18th, followed by a 5-Test series against England. Virat Kohli and few other Indian cricketers have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
