Virat Kohli’s heated airport chat with BCCI selector fuels rumours of tension with Gautam Gambhir

Virat Kohli had landed in Raipur along with the Indian squad for the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur, starting on December 3. After hitting a match-winning knock in Ranchi, Virat Kohli would love to continue his sublime form with the bat in the second ODI as well.

However, before the Raipur ODI, a viral video of Kohli sparked fresh speculation about the atmosphere inside the Indian dressing room.

Kohli was spotted having an animated conversation with the Indian selector Pragyan Ojha at the airport when they were heading to Raipur from Ranchi.

In a video, Kohli was seen talking with a very serious expression, while Ojha listened carefully. The two were sitting together, and just a few seats away, the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir was also present. Rohit Sharma was sitting nearby at the airport.

After the serious moment between Kohli and Ojha went viral, fans immediately started guessing what the discussion could be about. The timing has raised eyebrows because of ongoing reports of tension between Gambhir and senior players, including Kohli and Rohit.

BCCI plans urgent meeting amid Gautam Gambhir’s rift with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma

According to several media reports, relationships between Gambhir and the senior stars are not as strong as they were when he first took over as head coach. It is being said that Rohit’s removal as India’s ODI captain has created strain in the dressing room.

There is also confusion about the future of both Kohli and Rohit in ODI cricket, especially with the ICC World Cup 2027 on the horizon. The Indian cricket team management wants to start a transition, but it seems to be causing some stress within the squad. The BCCI is all set to hold a special meeting in Raipur or Visakhapatnam to discuss the future of the senior players.

Notably, Pragyan Ojha recently joined the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee along with former pacer RP Singh. Ojha is currently with the Indian team for the ongoing home series against South Africa, while other selectors are busy watching Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 matches.

Earlier, Kohli avoided joining India’s victory celebration at the team hotel and even avoided Gambhir in the dressing room. The first video shows stand-in captain KL Rahul cutting a cake at the team hotel to celebrate India’s win in the first ODI.

Everyone around him was cheering and enjoying the moment. Just then, Kohli walked into the lobby, but he kept walking and headed straight to the elevator.

However, the former Indian captain asked everyone to carry one after clapping. Even though a few people called out to him, he didn’t stop and left everyone shocked.
