Despite his stellar form in the ODIs, Indian legend Virat Kohli has been urged to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to continue in the 50-over format. The Indian star is all set to play the domestic 50-over tournament, and he has conveyed that to his Delhi team.

Virat Kohli has retired from all formats of international cricket except for ODIs, and hence the Indian team management believes that he should be regular in the domestic circle to add further gametime to his preparations for the international stage.

Kohli returned to ODIs with a strong match-winning innings against Australia in Sydney and then scored a breathtaking century against the Proteas in the Ranchi ODI. Despite all the BCCI has pestered him about making a domestic return.

Virat Kohli has informed Delhi of his availability for the Vijay Hazare Trophy

This has been reported with confirmation that Virat Kohli will be part of the 50-over domestic tournament from India. He has reported his availability to his state team, for whom he had last played the tournament back in 2010.

"Yes, that's right. He has given his availability," Rohan Jaitley, the DDCA president, told this website on Tuesday (December 2) evening. It is, however, unlikely that he will feature in all the games for Delhi. The Vijay Hazare Trophy runs from December 24 to January 18.

Virat Kohli's decision to play domestic cricket contradicts his thoughts from the post-match comments he made after the Ranchi innings. He claimed that his preparation is mostly mental, and he is not a great believer in any other form of preparation.

The BCCI's domestic cricket policy is largely driven by the influence of the current Head Coach and the Chief Selector of the Indian Men's National Cricket Team, Ajit Agarkar. According to them, the international cricketers should be available to their state team when not on Indian duty.

According to some reports, Rohit Sharma has also informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that he will be featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for them. Since Kohli would not be featuring in all games, the ANI sources have confirmed his availability for 4 games in the season.

Virat Kohli has some promising numbers in the Vijay Hazare despite having played only 14 games in his domestic career. He has amassed 819 runs at an average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 106.08, with four centuries and three half-centuries adding to the pile.

No information surrounding the BCCI review meeting

Ever since the disagreement between Indian veteran cricketers and the Indian head coach was reported, the Indian dressing room has been under some tension. To sort the issues, the BCCI was supposed to conduct a review meeting ahead of the Raipur or Vishakhapatnam ODIs.

However, as per Cricbuzz reports, there has been absolutely no information on any such meeting; rather, they have reported a meeting of the selection committee for the T20I squad selection. The Indian selectors are likely to call back Hardik Pandya after his convincing performance against Punjab in the SMAT.
