Former Australia National Cricket Team player Brad Hogg talked about the issues surrounding Kohli, especially after he failed in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that commitments off the field are also the reason behind his poor performances.

India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli has been struggling to get going with the bat in Test cricket. The premier batter has been averaging way below his standards, and even his place in the team has been under scanner as well, with many raising calls to drop him.

Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs and looked torrid with the bat. He slammed a century in the first match, and it seemed that he would set the stage on fire, but that wasn't the case, as he failed badly in the other 4 games.

Kohli got out to balls outside off as Australia pacers were all over the batter. In the series, he had an average of 23.75. Overall in the last 10 Tests, the India National Cricket Team batter has scored 392 runs in his last 10 Tests, averaging 23.05, which is well below his standards.

He’s got other commitments off the field that he didn’t have when he was dominating all three formats around the globe - Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg, while talking about the struggles of Kohli, said that he now has other commitments, which weren't there when he was in his prime. He said that drama off the field has caused him to not perform as well at this moment. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

"And then all of a sudden, he’s got a family now. He’s got other commitments off the field that he didn’t have when he was dominating all three formats around the globe. So, it’s not just about the cricket, it’s what happening off the field as well."

"I think it’s more the drama off-field than on-field more Virat Kohli. I just think he’s just got too much on his plate that’s probably caused him to not perform as well at this moment."

There’s a lot of pressure on him - Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg added that the amount of cricket that Kohli plays also has had an impact on his performances. He pointed out that after the hectic international cricket, he has to play IPL as well for RCB. He elaborated:

"I think it’s probably more the volume of cricket that’s been played out at the present moment because you try and play as much you can for India in all three formats. And then you got the IPL and it is extended for a week or two as well."

"So, there’s a lot of pressure there as well because owners are spending big money on players in the IPL. Virat Kohli is the elite player at RCB. So, there’s a lot of pressure on him there."
