Virender Sehwag Feels Rishabh Pant Should Play 100 Tests For India
With his flamboyant style of play, Virender Sehwag, who was once regarded as a white-ball specialist, went on to accomplish wonders for India in Test cricket as well. In an era when the T20 format has become the most popular form of cricket, the former Indian opener emphasized that Test cricket is the ultimate version of the game.
In Sehwag’s honest opinion, Test cricket is the greatest cricket, Sehwag scored 8586 runs in Tests at an incredible strike rate of 82.23 and 8273 runs in ODIs at 35.05 with a strike rate of 104.33.
Rishabh Pant Would Become A Legend If He Plays 100 Tests: Virender Sehwag
The Nawab of Nazafgarh went on to say that if Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant only plays white-ball cricket, he will be forgotten quickly, but if the left-hander goes on to play over 100 Tests for India, he will be remembered forever.
“If he goes on to play 100+ Tests, his name would be etched in the history books forever. Only 11 Indian cricketers have achieved this feat, and everyone can recall those 11 names,” Sehwag said about the Delhi Capitals skipper.
When asked about Virat Kohli, who is regarded as one of the best ambassadors for Test cricket in the world, Sehwag said the former Indian captain is well aware that if he plays 150-200 Tests for India, he will be immortalised in the record books.
“Why does Virat Kohli emphasize so much on playing Tests? He knows that if he plays 100-150 or even 200 Tests, he will be immortalised in the record books,” Sehwag added.
Pant is just 24 and he has already played 30 Test matches for India. He has already made a name for himself in the longest format of the game as he averages 40 with the bat and is the only Indian WK to have a century in South Africa, Australia, and England.
