Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has hit back at Rashid Latif after the latter's recent remarks about him and Wasim Akram.
With Pakistan enduring an embarrassing campaign in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, both Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram did not shy away from heavily criticising the team.
The Men in Green bowed out of the competition at the group stage despite being the hosts and the defending champions.
Pakistan had a shambolic Champions Trophy campaign
The Mohammad Rizwan-led side began its campaign with a dismal 60-run loss against New Zealand. In their second game of the tournament, Pakistan suffered a 6-wicket loss at the hands of arch-rivals India. Their final group game against Bangladesh was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Rashid Latif attacks Pakistan legends
With Pakistan bowing out of the tournament without a single win, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram slammed the team for its poor display. However, their criticism of the team did not go down well with Rashid Latif.
Urging the Pakistan team to stay away from 90s players, Latif said: "It took 17 years for Pakistan to win another World Cup because the 90s players did not spare Pakistan cricket.
"Keep 90s players away from management and from the team as well, then they will try to win. They have been serving Pakistan cricket for so long now. So, I think they should rest now," he said in an ironic manner," he added.
Later, he took another dig at Waqar Younis and Akram by calling them Dubai boys and also said that they will do anything for money. Both Akram and Younis were stationed in Dubai due to their broadcast duties.
"Dubai boys have created a ruckus," Latif stated on his podcast.
"They are happy praising each other. They fought throughout their career, which hurt Pakistan cricket…interesting people. Throw money in front of them and they will do anything," he added.
Waqar Younis responds:
Waqar Younis did not wait long to respond after Rashid Latif's criticism. The Pakistan legend took to social media platform X to remind Latif of his and Akram's achievements in the game. Both Akram and Younis are widely regarded as two of the best fast-bowlers of all time.
Akram retired from ODIs as the highest wicket-taker of all time while Younis was at the second spot. Younis picked up 416 wickets in ODIs and 373 wickets in Tests. On the other hand, Akram finished his ODI career with a staggering 502 wickets while taking 414 wickets in the longest format of the game.
Calling himself and Akram, '90’s KA LONDA', Younis wrote:
