"I find it fascinating" - Sam Curran on MS Dhoni's fan following

During a conversation with the former England captain Nasser Hussain on Sky Sports, Sam Curran opened up on training alongside MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. He revealed that the craze for Dhoni is so much that the local players want to get a glimpse of his batting even at times close to midnight.

"I think I find it fascinating (when) you go down to training. The other night, I was batting with MS (Dhoni) and (Ravindra) Jadeja at 11:30 in the evening. I was thinking: Where in the world would you do this?" Curran wondered.

"The lights were on and we're just smacking balls everywhere. You've all the local players around the group, and they just sit there and they just watch MS," the CSK allrounder added.

Dhoni's huge fan following is such that most people leave their work just to watch him bat. There is a different craze and a festive atmosphere whenever he comes out to bat.

Further speaking in the same video, Sam Curran shed light on MS Dhoni's aura that has everyone around him grooving. Curran also feels that Dhoni gels around well with his players which makes the junior players comfortable.

"It's just more than the aura of the guy. He's so easy to chat with and I think his calmness, I guess, I guess the big moments he has been involved in but he never seems to panic. I feel like the emotion on his face, he never really shows too much," noted Curran.

"And even in the hotel now, guys always talk about, he leaves his room open. Guys go and play FIFA with him, chat cricket, and stuff like that. He obviously can't leave the hotel much because he just gets absolutely mobbed," he added.

MS Dhoni retained by CSK

Dhoni was retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 4 crore. Although he retired from international cricket in 2020, he has continued to feature in the IPL and wants to enjoy his last years of professional cricket.

Meanwhile, Sam Curran returns to his earlier franchise Chennai Super Kings after some stints with Punjab Kings. He was secured by CSK for NR 2.4 crore and could play a key role for them with both bat and ball.

Chennai Super Kings will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23. The match will be held in Chennai and the home team will be looking to start the season on a winning note.

For Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the team in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who will be serving a 1-match ban from IPL 2024.
