Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar is nearing full fitness and has signed up for a county stint with Lancashire as per media reports.

Washington Sundar, who is recovering from a hand injury and is currently doing his rehabilitation at NCA, will be playing for Lancashire county in the English county cricket in order to regain fitness.

“Washington is nearing full fitness and he needs a lot of game time, which he will get only in red ball cricket. He is going to play for Lancashire and this exposure will do him a world of good,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

If reports are to be believed then India pacer Deepak Chahar will take nearly five weeks to recover from his back and hamstring injury. Chahar had suffered the hamstring tear during the home white-ball series against West Indies.

He then reported to the NCA to begin his rehabilitation, but then during his recovery process, hurt his back as well which extended his stay at the NCA and led him to miss the entire Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) where he was supposed to play for Chennai Super Kings who had bought him in the auction for INR 14 crores.

However, there are reports from PTI stating that Chahar is nearly fully fit and needs five weeks or so more to regain 100% fitness and may return to the Men in Blue unit for the Asia Cup or the West Indies tour before that.

“I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit. It’s a step by step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don’t think I will be fit for the England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness. I can’t say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let’s see,” Chahar told PTI after his rehab session.
