New Zealand star cricketer Kane Williamson has revealed his all-time favorite cricketers from the Pakistan national cricket team. The former Kiwis skipper mentioned names like Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Shoaib Malik while naming his all-time favorite Pakistani cricketer.
Kane Williamson was signed by Karachi Kings for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 after going unsold in the IPL auction. However, he didn’t play a single match during the PSL season. The star batter missed the initial matches due to prior commitments, including a commentary role during the IPL.
Kane Williamson Asked About His All-Time Favorite Pakistani Cricketers
Kane Williamson was asked about his all-time favorite Pakistani cricketers. He named Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan as players he always enjoyed watching. The batter also said that he learned a lot from Shoaib Malik during their time together in T20 cricket.
"Always loved watching Mohammad Yousuf bat. Younis Khan as well. And I was fortunate to play with Shoaib Malik in some T20 cricket and learned a lot from him. So those three are guys that I either enjoyed playing with or really admired watching. Sort of only caught the end of Inzamam-ul-Haq, but yeah, he was also another wonderful player," Williamson said.
Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, and Inzamam-ul-Haq for Pakistan
Mohammad Yousuf was one of the most technically gifted batters of his generation. He scored over 7,500 runs in 90 Tests at an average of nearly 53, including 24 centuries. Yousuf also set a world record by amassing 1,788 Test runs in a single calendar year.
Younis Khan is Pakistan’s all-time leading Test run-scorer, with over 10,000 runs in 118 matches at an average above 52, including 34 centuries. He also led Pakistan to victory in the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup as captain.
Inzamam-ul-Haq played a vital role in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup triumph, including a match-winning knock in the semifinal. He scored 8,830 runs in 120 Tests at an average close to 50 and over 11,700 runs in 378 ODIs, including 10 centuries.
Kane Williamson Mainstay in New Zealand’s Lineup Across All Formats
Kane Williamson made his international debut for New Zealand in 2010 in an ODI against India. He went on to make his Test debut later that year, also against India. The right-handed batter quickly established himself as a mainstay in the New Zealand lineup across all formats.
Williamson has played 105 Tests, scoring over 9,000 runs at an average above 50, including 33 centuries and 37 fifties. He has amassed more than 7,000 runs in 173 ODIs, including 13 centuries. Kane was part of the New Zealand squad that reached the finals of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.
The right-hander also led the team to the final of the 2021 T20 World Cup, where they finished as runners-up. He stepped down from New Zealand’s captaincy and declined a central contract to be available for franchise cricket.
