Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna’s troubles continued in England as Jamie Smith scored a massive 23 runs off just one over on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
After his expensive bowling at Headingley, there was not much improvement in Prasidh Krishna’s bowling, as he was smashed for 4, 6, 4, and 4 before a wide cost him another boundary as Jamie got 23 runs in the 32nd over to help England recover from early blows against India.

Krishna had started the over really well as he bowled a good-length delivery outside off stump, and Jamie Smith tried to punch it but hit it straight to the fielder at mid-off, and he didn’t get a single. But what happened next was something the Indian camp must not have imagined.

And then, Smith showed no mercy to Krishna. The England wicketkeeper-batter hammered a short ball straight to the boundary. The delivery was angled into Smith’s body, but he quickly got into position, rolled his wrists over it, and pulled it with confidence. The ball raced away to the deep square leg fence for a boundary, leaving the Indian camp stunned.

Adding to the bowler’s woes, Smith thrilled the Edgbaston crowd with another special shot. After India placed a fielder in the deep, hoping to stop the boundaries, Smith made Krishna pay for another short delivery. He faced another short ball from Prasidh Krishna, rising into his body.
But the young Englishman timed his pull perfectly and launched it over deep square leg for a massive six. The fielder could only watch as the ball sailed high into the stands. Well, Smith continued to dominate Prasidh Krishna’s short-ball tactics.

On the fourth ball of the nightmarish over, the 24-year-old player read the length early, stood tall, and hammered the ball with precision between mid-on and mid-wicket for another boundary. On the very next ball, the right-handed batter hit another boundary off Krishna.

As the Indian bowler continued with short deliveries, Smith gave himself room and smashed the ball with ease over mid-on for a one-bounce boundary, earning applause from his captain, Ben Stokes, from the dressing room. Well, on the next delivery, Krishna tried to bowl a sharp bouncer to Smith, but it went too high and flew over the batter, who was already ducking.
The umpire called it wide, adding to Prasidh's frustrating over, as he had to deliver one extra, and the England star made the most of the opportunity. Jamie hammered a full delivery straight down the ground for a stylish boundary, collecting 23 runs off the over against Krishna and putting more pressure on the Indian pacer to lift the momentum for England.
This overworked wonder worked for Smith, as he got the much-needed pace, and he is now racing towards his century with England’s current score reading 223/5 in the first session on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test against India at Edgbaston.
