LSG star Abdul Samad shines with the bat
Abdul Samad had a good day at the IPL 2025 mega auction as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showed faith in his explosive batting and finishing ability and acquired him for a whopping INR 4.2 crore.
The 23-year-old Jammu and Kashmir batter has somewhat repaid the faith of the team management by playing quickfire knocks down the order in the Indian Premier League 2025.
In the first six matches of the tournament, Abdul Samad returned with scores of 22*, 27, 4, 6, 2*, and 20 before playing his best knock in the seventh match for the Lucknow Super Giants.
Samad was batting at 5-ball 4 heading into the final over, and he made sure to better his score by demolishing Sandeep Sharma in the final over.
On the second ball of the over, he got the strike, and he started off by smashing a length ball from the pacer over deep mid-wicket for a six, and followed it up with another six over the same area.
He then took a double before smashing back-to-back sixes over deep backward square leg and deep mid-wicket. Abdul Samad finished his innings with a score of 30 runs off 10 balls, with 4 sixes.

How did RR perform in their previous IPL 2025 match?
Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a heartbreaking defeat in their previous IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 16. Chasing 189, RR matched DC’s total of 188 but lost in the Super Over after a sensational final over by Mitchell Starc.
Opting to bowl first in the match, RR pacer Jofra Archer dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk in the 3rd over while Wanindu Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma combined to run out Karun Nair for a duck in the 4th over.
Then, they faced some troubles as KL Rahul and Abishek Porel built a partnership, but soon, Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed the DC batters. At 105/4, it looked like RR would stop DC for a low score, but that didn't happen as Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs,, and Ashutosh Sharma showcased sensational batting performances and powered DC to 188/5.
Chasing the target, RR began on a strong note with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 51 off 37 and skipper Sanju Samson racing to 31 off 19 before retiring hurt with a side issue.
The middle-order couldn't quite capitalize on the early momentum, and Riyan Parag got out for 8 before Nitish Rana’s explosive 51 off 28 brought RR back into the hunt.
Shimron Hetmyer (15 off 9) and Dhruv Jurel (26 off 17) remained unbeaten in the middle for Rajasthan Royals, but Mitchell Starc’s pinpoint yorkers in the final over restricted RR to just eight runs when they needed nine.
The game then slipped further out of RR’s hands in the Super Over, where both Jaiswal and Parag were run out within five balls. DC chased down the 12-run target in just four deliveries.
