Watch: AB de Villiers urges RCB Women to inspire men's team with WPL 2024 glory

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player AB de Villiers shared a motivational message for the Women’s team of the franchise ahead of the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. He urged them to get the trophy as it will be a great motivation for the men’s team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women have made it into the final of the WPL 2024. The Smriti Mandhana-led side will be playing Delhi Capitals in the summit clash on Sunday (17th March) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

RCB women, who had a torrid season last year, made sure that they set the stage on fire in the ongoing season. They have played some incredible brand of cricket and entertained the crowd thoroughly both at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore as well as the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won 4 games in the 8 league games and bagged the third spot in the table. They produced a scintillating performance in the eliminator against the Mumbai Indians. What was impressive was they looked down and dusted and from that position, they went on to win the game.

RCB managed just 135 runs with the bat and then with the ball, things weren’t going in the favour. It seemed that Mumbai Indians would go to the easy victory but the way, the Smriti Mandhana-led side pulled back things and won the game was admirable.

With the WPL 2024 final just hours away from now, former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers expressed his excitement for the game. He believes that it will be an outstanding clash between two powerhouse teams.

AB de Villiers also congratulated both the teams for the brand of cricket they have played. Speaking in a video posted on his Twitter account, he explained:

“Women’s Premier League finals today promises to be an outstanding clash between two powerhouse teams. The two stand-out teams of this tournament. The Delhi Capitals Women’s team and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s team will be facing off in an action-packed final today.

“I absolutely cannot wait to watch the action unfold. Congratulations to both teams for making the finals, well deserved, and stand- performances throughout the tournament individually and as a team.”

Delhi Capitals on the other hand were extremely dominant in the league stage. They are yet to lose a single game in the tournament against RCB and would want to extend their dominance.

Bring the trophy home – AB de Villiers’ special message to RCB women

AB de Villiers further extended his support to Royal Challengers Bangalore Women to win the WPL 2024. He stated that he will be watching every game and added:

“A special shoutout to team RCB. All the very best to you all! Bring the trophy home and also give the men’s (team) some motivation for later on this month when the IPL starts. All the very best guys, I’ll be watching every ball.”
