Being a youngster with good fitness, Abhishek is known for easily covering the ground by running fast and taking stunning catches.

However, a different version of Abhishek was seen in the match against the Salman Agha-led side. On the very third ball of the match, Abhishek dropped Sahibzada Farhan, which proved quite costly for India.

Sahibzada played a hoick across the line off Hardik Pandya in the first over, and the edge flew towards third man, where Abhishek Sharma had the opportunity to grab a simple catch, but he made a mess of it and dropped the catch.

Then, on the third ball of the 8th over, Abhishek missed a tough chance at long-on, where he jumped, tried to reach out to the ball with one hand, but the ball went past the boundary line.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma redeemed himself in the 11th over by taking a stunning catch to send back Saim Ayub. On the third ball of the over, Saim Ayub top-edged a delivery from Shivam Dube and the ball went up in the air.

Abhishek Sharma came in running from the deep backward square, dived forward, and took a stunning catch with both hands to send the batter packing for 21 runs.

He's a very exciting player - Abhishek Sharma lauded by ex-cricketer

Speaking ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash, the former cricketer Surinder Khanna lavished rich praise on the left-handed batter Abhishek Sharma.

Surinder Khanna stated that Abhishek Sharma is an exciting player and a great stroke maker, but was not totally satisfied with his performances.

He felt that Abhishek needs to convert his good starts into big scores and play longer innings for the team to prove that he is a great player.

"He's a very exciting player. And his stroke play is very good, on the new game. The start he's getting, convert that into a big score.

"Because if you make good 25-30 runs, and don't play big, you can't stay there for long. Because if you keep good players out, you get a chance. So you have to play long innings. Whether he comes or not, it's up to him," Surinder Khanna told ANI.
