Rajasthan Royals’ young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has yet again flopped with the bat, as he fell for just 4 runs off 2 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 53rd IPL 2025 clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, May 4.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been all over social media after hitting a record-breaking century in his debut IPL season. However, since his 35-ball ton, the left-hander’s bat has been silent, with some cricket experts questioning his technique following his series of flops.
As Rajasthan Royals were chasing a 207-run target against the Kolkata Knight Riders, there were hopes from Vaibhav to light up the Eden Gardens, but the 14-year-old opener failed to counter the swing bowler Vaibhav Arora, and he mistimed his shot and paid the price for it.

Vaibhav Arora delivered a sharp short ball, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi went for the pull shot but couldn’t time it well. The ball flew towards mid-wicket, where Ajinkya Rahane sprinted back while keeping his eyes locked on the ball till the end and grabbed a brilliant running catch.
Rahane’s stunning efforts cut short Vaibhav’s stay, as the RR opener walked back to the pavilion after facing only four balls for two runs in Kolkata. After his explosive century against the Gujarat Titans, Suryavanshi has now fallen cheaply in back-to-back matches for the Rajasthan Royals.

KKR spin web crashes RR at Eden Gardens
Meanwhile, RR has found itself in trouble as they lost another young blood in Kunal Singh Rathore, who came into the lineup because Nitish Rana had a niggle. The senior KKR spinner Moeen Ali tossed up a slower delivery, tempting Kunal Singh Rathore to go big.

The Rajasthan Royals batter tried to clear mid-on but mistimed the shot badly. Andre Russell positioned himself perfectly under the ball at mid-on and made no mistake while taking the brilliant catch. Rathore walked back even without opening his account after facing five balls against the KKR.
And now it was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s turn, as the English all-rounder seems to be on a roll with the ball at the Eden Gardens. Moeen managed to break the 58-run partnership between Riyan Parag and Jaiswal to put the Royals under immense pressure in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash.

Coming from around the wicket, Moeen Ali tossed up a drifting delivery that landed on middle and tempted Jaiswal into an aggressive shot. The left-hander tried to go downtown with a big swing, but it came off the bottom of the bat.
The ball hung in the air towards long-on, where Rinku Singh, who was stationed at long-on, kept his eyes on the ball and pulled off a brilliant low dive to take a superb catch just inches above the ground. Jaiswal had to walk back disappointed after scoring 34 runs off 21 balls.
And then in the 8th over, Varun Chakravarthy got back-to-back wickets to ensure KKR’s dominant win over RR. Dhruv Jurel and Wanindu Hasaranga returned back to the pavilion for a duck as Varun Chakravarthy finished the over with two wickets while conceding only 6 runs.
