England batter Ben Duckett endured a painful moment after being hit by Indian pacer Akash Deep on Day 2 (Friday, August 1) of the fourth Test during the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. Zak Crawley couldn't help but chuckle at the unfortunate incident involving his opening batting partner in the morning session.
England removed India’s lower order on the second morning, wrapping up the innings in just 34 deliveries. Resuming at 204 for 6, India lost their final four wickets for a mere six runs and finished with a modest total of 224.
Karun Nair had shown grit on a challenging Day 1, reaching a hard-fought half-century with support from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar. However, England dominated the morning session, stamping their authority early in the day.

The incident unfolded on the very first ball of the fourth over, when Akash Deep delivered an angling ball from around the wicket. The delivery straightened after pitching, and Ben Duckett attempted to play it towards the leg side.
Notably, the ball struck him directly in the groin, leaving him doubled over in visible discomfort. The physio was called onto the field to assess the damage, while Zak Crawley, standing at the non-striker’s end, was seen chuckling at the unfortunate situation involving his opening partner.

Ben Duckett Survives and Then Hits a Reverse Ramp Six
On the second ball of the same over, Akash Deep convinced Shubman Gill to review an LBW appeal against Ben Duckett. Gill hesitated but opted for the review. The ball had nipped in and struck Duckett on the knee roll, but ball tracking showed it was going over the stumps, costing India a review.
Deep then induced an outside edge off Duckett’s bat, but the ball died in front of the gully fielder. It seemed like the bowler had done everything but taken a wicket.
However, Duckett had the final say, finishing the over in classic Bazball fashion with a reverse ramp over the slip cordon for six, leaving the bowler frustrated and the crowd buzzing. All the drama in a single over grabbed the attention of both fans and experts.
Akash Deep Has Got This Ball Talking a Bit - Michael Vaughan
Former England captain Michael Vaughan spoke about England’s proactive mindset against the Indian bowling attack. Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, he added that the team isn’t interested in sitting back and letting India settle into a good rhythm.
Vaughan noted that England are looking to stay on the front foot and take the initiative instead of waiting for a delivery that could dismiss them. He also mentioned that the ball was doing quite a bit during Akash Deep’s spell.
"This is what England want to do. They won't sit around and wait for India to hit that decent length. They don't want to wait for a ball with their name on it. Akash Deep has got this ball talking a bit," Vaughan stated, as quoted by BBC Test Match Special.
