India fast bowler Akash Deep was on fire during the first innings of the Chennai Test. Akash produced two unplayable balls to get the better of Bangladesh batters Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque off successive deliveries.

After bowling an economical first over, Akash Deep ran in hard to bowl his second over. However, Zakir pulled out as he had some issues in front of the sightscreen. But that didn't stop Akash as he ran in again and bowled a good length ball from around the wicket.

Akash Deep knocks over Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque off successive balls

Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan looked for a drive down the ground but missed the ball completely to see his middle stump knocked out of the ground. It was a perfect sight for a fast bowler as he was mobbed by his teammates

It was an action replay in the next ball as Akash Deep pitched the ball in the same area from the same angle. But the experienced Mominul Haque was beaten for pace and on the inside edge. The ball went on to deflect off his left pad onto his off stump.

Zakir was dismissed for 3 off 22 balls while Mominul was out for a golden duck. Akash Deep made full use of the hard new ball which was just 8 overs old. The two quick wickets by Akash Deep put India in command as Bangladesh were reduced to 26-3 at lunch on Day 2.

This over by Akash Deep also turned out to be the last over before lunch. The 27-year-old will be looking to continue his rhythm and pick up more wickets in the next session. Currently, his figures read 2-5 in two overs.

Akash Deep has played just a solitary Test match so far, which was against England earlier this year in Ranchi. He was impressive with the new ball in that game too as he picked up the top three wickets of England's batting line-up.

The young fast bowler also had a great Duleep Trophy just before this Test series. He played in the first match of the tournament and picked up 9 wickets in the match.

Jasprit Bumrah provides the early breakthrough

Earlier in the innings, India bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah provided India the first breakthrough as he often does. Bumrah bowled opener Shadman Islam by coming from around the wicket as the batter looked to leave the ball.

Bumrah picked the wicket in the first over itself. He bowled the first five deliveries from over the wicket and leaving the left-hander. However, he changed his angle for the last ball and came around the wicket to knock over the stumps.

Bumrah's bowling partner Mohammed Siraj also bowled well without any reward. Siraj had even trapped Zakir Hasan in front but the umpire gave it not out. India's captain Rohit Sharma thought of taking a review but went against it.

However, the hawk eye turned three reds later and Zakir would have been dismissed if the review had been taken.
