Many were expecting that Akash couldn't trouble the hosts, but instead of just blocking out deliveries, the pacer went on to build a solid partnership that has crossed the 55-run mark with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day 3.
The tailender-turned-hero is batting on 32 off 50 balls, helping push India’s lead to a promising 128 runs and frustrating the English attack.
Not just that, he also recreated the Day 2 drama. On Day 2, Akash had given a fiery send-off to Ben Duckett, and even he was seen wrapping his hand around the England opener’s shoulder and exchanging a few tense words, which drew mixed reactions from the cricket fraternity.

Gautam Gambhir smiles as Akash Deep scripts history with solid fifty
Meanwhile, Akash Deep is on full song at The Oval. He already smashed his maiden Test fifty with a stunning boundary off Gus Atkinson on Day 3. His fifty also brought a big smile on Gautam Gambhir's face. The Indian pacer, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, is showing great fight.
They have faced 134* balls together, and that’s the longest partnership of the match so far. Akash came in as a nightwatchman, but he is now batting like a proper batter and playing with calm and confidence against England in the crucial final Test.

Well, Akash and Yashasvi have already added 86* runs for the third wicket and set the strong foundation for the middle order at The Oval. Both the players are currently playing aggressively, with Akash cracking nine boundaries and Jaiswal smashing ten boundaries so far.
Now, Yashasvi is 19 runs away from his century, and he would like to get it before the lunch break the way he is batting against clueless England.
