Australia women’s captain Alyssa Healy faced heartbreak during the ongoing one-off Test against South Women in Perth on Thursday (15th February). The batter fell just one run short of what could’ve been her maiden century in the longest format of the game.
Alyssa Healy came to bat at No.5 and played a magnificent innings for her team. The Australian women’s captain made sure that he kept her team in the dominating position. She played some crisp shots in his innings and was looking set for a big knock but it wasn’t meant to be.

Alyssa Healy scored 99 runs off 124 balls with the help of 16 fours in the first innings. This is her highest score in Test cricket. During the innings, he went past the previous best of 58 against England in 2019. With the way she got out, she would’ve been extremely gutted with her.
After she got out 99, Alyssa Healy joined her husband Mitchell Starc in a unique feat. Both the players now have the highest score of 99 in Test cricket. The lanky pacer achieved the feat when against India in Mohali in 2013.
Alyssa Healy became the 27th Australian and the fourth Australian woman to get out on 99. In women’s cricket, he joined the likes of Jess Jonassen, Jill Kennare, and Ellyse Perry to achieve the disappointing feat to her name.
Alyssa Healy possesses a decent record in Test cricket. In the 9 Tests that she has played so far, she has slammed 455 runs at an average of 30.33. The Australia women’s captain also has slammed 3 half-centuries in her career as well. With the kind of ability she possesses, the number is only expected to rise.

That’s really sweet, it is Valentine’s Day – Mel Jones on Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy sharing the same Test score
Australia commentator Mel Jones came up with a hilarious reaction after the Alyssa Healy got out on 99. She highlighted Valentine’s Day, saying that the batter might have had that in mind. She explained:
“I’ve worked it out. It’s all making sense to me. Mitch Starc, highest Test score, 99 versus India. So husband and wife now sharing their highest Test match scores together. She’s just going to say it’s her niceness coming through.
“Knowing how competitive Healy is, Haynes wasn’t quite sure. That’s really sweet, it is Valentine’s Day. I’m not quite sure that’s what she had in mind. I’ve seen the two of them on the golf course, that’s definitely not what she had in mind.”
At Stumps, Australia women led by 175 runs with 5 wickets left in their first innings. They were feeling at 12 for 3 after bundling out the opposition for 76. But Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney’s 155-run stand brought them back into the match.
