Team India fast bowler Anshul Kamboj made his Test debut in the fourth Test of the five-match series against England at Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday, July 23. The Shubman Gill-led side has backed Anshul to deliver with the ball, following injury concerns to pacers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the final two matches with a left knee injury, while Arshdeep sustained a left thumb injury during a net session in Beckenham, making him unavailable for the Manchester Test. Before the fourth Test, captain Shubman Gill also confirmed that Akash Deep would miss the game.

Anshul Kamboj was handed his Test cap by former India wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta before the start of the fourth Test. Kamboj became the 318th player to represent India in the longest format of the game.
While Prasidh Krishna was also in contention for a spot in the playing XI, his performances in the first two matches were underwhelming. He struggled with both control and consistency, conceding too many runs, which led to India opting for Kamboj.
