Watch: Arshad Khan suffers freak injury; teammates, opposition left horrified

Arshad Khan was fortunate to avoid suffering a serious injury after falling in an awkward manner during the ongoing game between Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling for the Gujarat-based outfit and conceded 8 runs without taking any wickets.

For the second over, Gill handed the ball to Arshad Khan, and even before the left-arm pacer could deliver his first ball, he slipped and fell on the ground.

The incident took place during his run-up, just as he was about to land after the jump and deliver his first ball of the match. Soon after he landed, his shoe slipped and he fell horribly, leaving not only his teammates but the Lucknow Super Giants opener worried as well.

Aiden Markram, who was on strike, looked worried as he put his hand on his head in disbelief, while Mitchell Marsh quickly went down on one knee to check on the fast-bowler. The other Gujarat Titans players also rushed in while Arshad Khan remained lying on the ground and appeared to be in pain.

He avoided suffering any knee or ankle injury but did hurt his shoulder. The physio came out quickly and checked on Arshad Khan before the latter got to his feet and decided to stay on the field. In the same over, Arshad slipped once again in a similar fashion but managed to avoid any serious injury that time as well. The second incident took place when he was running in to bowl the fifth ball of the over.

Arshad conceded 14 runs in his over without taking any wicket. Talking about the match, Lucknow Super Giants were on 33 for no loss in the 4th over at the time of writing this report.

The Titans have already qualified for the playoffs and will be eager to win the ongoing game to bolster their chances of a top-two finish. They are currently at the top of the table with 18 points from 12 games. On the other hand, LSG have been eliminated and will look to bow out of the tournament on a winning note.
