India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh bamboozled the Bangladesh National Cricket Team No.11 Mustafizur Rahman with an absolutely unplayed yorker in the first T20I of the three-match series on Sunday, October 6.
The match between the teams was hosted by the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. It was an unknown pitch for both sides as it was the first international match at the venue.
Arshdeep Singh Shines With The Ball
The star left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh had the responsibility on his shoulders to lead the Indian bowling attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and he didn't disappoint.
Arshdeep Singh did a great job with the new ball and picked early wickets to provide India with a great start. He dismissed Litton Das for 4 and Parvez Hossain Emon for 8.
After his heroics with the new ball, Arshdeep Singh extended his record as the bowler with the most wickets in powerplay since his debut in July 2022. Arshdeep Singh has bagged 32 wickets in the powerplay in T20Is, which is the most among all the bowlers in the world.
The bowlers following him on the elite list are Zappy Bimenyimana (29) Fazalhaq Farooqi (28), Mark Adair (27), and Pavandeep Singh (26).
Arshdeep Singh was brought back into the attack for the 20th over and he made sure to complete his three-wicket haul. On the fifth ball of the 20th over, the left-arm pacer nailed a perfect yorker that rattled the stumps of the Bangladesh No.11.
Mustafizur Rahman cleared his front leg in an attempt to play a shot, but he was not able to bring his bat down on time, and his off-stump was uprooted. Mustafizur was back in the hut after scoring 1 run off 5 balls.
