Australia Women’s cricketer Alana King paid a rich tribute to the legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne, who is regarded as the greatest leg-spinner in history, after dismissing Tammy Beaumont with a leg-spin delivery in ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.

Australia Women’s Cricket Team locked horns with England Women’s Cricket Team in the 3rd match of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 at the Seddon Park, Hamilton on Saturday 5 March 2022.

England Women’s team won the toss and elected to bowl first and the decision turned out to be a poor one for the Heather Knight-led side as the Meg Lanning-led Australia batted brilliantly and posted 310 runs on the board with the help of amazing innings by Rachael Haynes (130) and skipper Lanning (86).

Chasing the target England lost opener Lauren Winfield-Hill for a duck but Tammy Beaumont batted brilliantly and smashed incredible 74 runs before getting dismissed by Alana King.

In the 3rd ball of 27th over Alana King delivered a flighted delivery on a good length. The ball turned from leg to off and Beaumont went down to play the line, which led to a good stumping by Alyssa Healy.

After the dismissal, King patted her black armband to pay respect to the legendary spinner Shane Warne, who passed away yesterday due to a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.

Also, Australia were able to win the game by 12 runs against England and Nat Sciver’s century went in vain.

Leg-spinner King, who bagged 3 wickets in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 game against England, had posted a tweet after the sudden demise of the spin wizard Warne. She wrote:

“Cannot fathom the news I’ve woken up to. An idol & the biggest inspiration to me. Everyone wanted to be like Warnie and I was sure one of them. A character who revolutionised the art of spin bowling & brought plenty of flare to the game. You’ll be missed, King. #RIPShaneWarne.”
