Avesh Khan steers LSG to an epic win vs RR
The right-arm quick Avesh played a key role in his team's victory over the Rajasthan Royals by 2 runs in a thrilling encounter.
While defending the score of 180 runs, Rishabh Pant handed the ball to Avesh Khan in the 20th over when Rajasthan Royals needed just 9 runs to win with Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel in the middle.
Avesh started off the over by conceding one run on the first ball and two runs on the second ball. He then dismissed Shimron Hetmyer on the third ball and bowled a dot on the fourth ball.
On the 5th ball of the over, Avesh Khan created a wicket-taking opportunity, but David Miller dropped Shubman Dubey, and the RR batter took two runs.
Then, four runs were needed on the last ball, and Avesh Khan bowled a fuller delivery to Dubey on the stumps, who hammered it straight back at the pacer. Avesh got hit on his hand, and the ball rolled towards extra cover, with RR only managing one run on the final ball.
The right-arm pacer successfully defended 9 runs in the last over in a thriller, and Rajasthan Royals came out on the wrong side of a nail-biter for the second time in three days.
Notably, Avesh was in extreme pain after getting hit on his hand, seemingly suffering an injury, and instantly called for a physio as his teammates mobbed him. Overall, Avesh Khan picked up three wickets for 37 runs in the match and bagged the Player of the Match award.

Never easy, pressure time you know, high stakes on the line - Shardul Thakur
Speaking after the match, the Lucknow Super Giants pacer Shardul Thakur talked about the fielding blunder as well as his catch in the final over of the innings. Shardul Thakur stated:
"Never easy, pressure time you know, high stakes on the line. I tried to run him out, unfortunately I didn't and then next ball I took the catch. No idea (on the catch), I probably was standing at the right angle, that's something very important and managed to take it."
Shardul Thakur showered rich praise on his teammates Avesh Khan and Prince Yadav for doing a great job with the ball against the Rajasthan Royals. He said:
"We knew Avesh's capability (with the ball), credit to Prince as well for that 19th over. He can surprise the batter easily (with his pace), that's what we saw today and in that first game in Vizag as well."
Shardul Thakur, at last, said that he is delighted to be a part of the Lucknow Super Giants setup. He elaborated:
"Very happy (on being part of the team), the coaches and the management have stressed about following the process and not worrying about the results. I think around 4 games have gone to the wire and we've won 3 of those. Credit goes to the management for making sure that we are taken good care of, both on and off the field. Their encouragement has helped us get through difficult moments."
