Over the years, we have witnessed numerous instances of players pushing through serious injuries to continue playing for their teams on the cricket field. A similar scene unfolded during the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal between Tamil Nadu and Haryana on Wednesday (December 13). Tamil Nadu star Babar Indrajith left everyone astonished by stepping up to bat with his face covered in dressing due to an injury.
Tamil Nadu were reeling at 54 for 3 in the 14th over while chasing 294 when Baba Indrajith decided to walk out. The right-handed batsman had to receive treatment and apply tape on his face after suffering a lip injury when he fell during the innings break.
He looked in discomfort right from the start and had to receive treatment on the field as well. After facing just ten deliveries, the 29-year-old had to call the physio to re-adjust the dressing. The doctor eventually decided to remove the old dressing and replace it with padding and firm taping.
After the treatment, Baba Indrajith kept Tamil Nadu’s hopes by scoring a fine fifty but could not take them home. He scored 64 runs off 71 balls and was the seventh wicket to fall. Tamil Nadu were eventually bowled out for 230 runs as they lost the game by 63 runs.
In the air….and nicely taken! ?
A big moment in the match as Anshul Kamboj gets the crucial wicket of Baba Indrajith (64 off 71). A fine catch by Ankit Kumar ??

“Managed to bat somehow but was gutted to not cross the finish line for the team. Just went to the hospital and got my stitches done. Should be back soon. Thank you once again,” Baba Indrajith posted on Instagram.
The Tamil Nadu star finished his campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as his team’s highest run-scorer. In eight games, he scored 330 runs with the help of 1 century and 2 half-centuries.
