Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam isn't having a great game in the ongoing Test match against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The first game of the two-match Test series between the teams is taking place at the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Babar Azam has been having a torrid time in the game. The right-hander first bagged a duck in the game and after that wasn't at his best on the field. The Pakistan player dropped a simple catch during the Bangladesh innings in the first innings which cost his team a bit in the game.

During the 4th ball of the 142nd over, Agha Salman bowled a delivery that had a turn and bounce. Mushfiqur Rahim pushed it towards Azam at the leg slip and the Pakistan National Cricket batter made a hash of it as he was late to react to the catch

The ball hit Babar on the wrist as he dived forward and dropped the easy catch. Some fans even claimed that the former Pakistan skipper intentionally dropped the catch.

Here's the video:

At that time, Mushfiqur Rahim was batting at 150, and then after that, he went on to add 41 more runs for the team. The drop by Babar not only cost Agha Salman the wicket but it also saw the team conceding a lead of over 100 runs in the first innings, ending with the total lead of 117 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim played a magnificent hand for his team and put them in a strong position. The keeper-batter ended with an innings of 191 runs off 341 balls. He also slammed 22 fours and 1 six in his innings and ensured that Bangladesh went past 500 runs on the board.

After Mushfiqur Rahim got out, Mehidy Hasan Miraz slammed a vital half-century and ended with an innings of 77 runs. His vital hand lower down the order helped the Bangladesh National Cricket Team get to the top of the game and take a healthy lead in the first innings.

Babar Azam to play a key role for Pakistan in the Test series

Babar Azam will be crucial for his Team in the ongoing second innings. Pakistan have lost Saim Ayub early and still are trailing the Bangladesh National Cricket Team by 94 runs. With just one day left in the game, they need to first end Bangladesh's lead and then post a target to have a chance to win.

Babar Azam will be key for the team not only in the second innings but also in the next match as well. The second game of the series between the teams will be played at the same venue from 30th August. It was earlier scheduled to take place in Karachi but was moved due to construction mode.

Babar Azam hasn't registered a single fifty in the longest format of the game since 2022. In the 10 innings that he played last year, he scored just 204 runs and also failed terribly in the Test series against Australia.
