Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam couldn't score big in the first innings of the first Test against the England National Cricket Team. The game between the two teams is underway at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan, which commenced on Monday (7th October).

Pakistan National Cricket Team won the toss and they opted to bat first. In what looked like a belter of a wicket, they didn't have a great start with the bat. Young opener Saim Ayub fell for 3 runs, but after that, it was all about the hosts as they batted tremendously well with the bat.

Skipper Shan Masood slammed 151 runs and opener Abdullah Shafique also played an innings of 105 runs as Pakistan National Cricket Team put pressure on the opposition. The duo added 253 runs for the second wicket, and it set a great platform for the team. It was expected that Babar Azam would set the stage on fire, too.

Babar, who looked in the terrific touch in the Champions Cup 2024, came out to bat at No.4, and with the way he started, he looked in great form. The right-hander played some crisp shots in his innings and with the way he had controlled the knock, it seemed that he would be all set for a big knock.

Babar, as he was batting, made many stand and applaud him. Not only the fans but even the England National Cricket Team wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith was in awe of the batter. The lanky English player was impressed by the way the right-hander played the late cut.

On the 3rd ball of the 67th over, Jack Leach bowled a flat delivery with no width. Babar Azam leaned back and waited on it and cut it from off stump to dispatch the ball towards the boundary. This made England keeper Jamie Smith go "Oh wow" behind the stumps as he was in awe of the way the batter played.

Babar, after that shot, continued batting in a positive way. But he couldn't carry on the start that he got. The right-hander was trapped in lbw by Chris Woakes on the stroke of the stumps on Day 1 of the ongoing game

Babar Azam ended with an inning of 30 runs off 71 balls. He also slammed 5 boundaries during his knock. With his wicket, Pakistan National Cricket Team lost their 4th wicket for 324 runs and the batter's horrid run in the Test cricket continued.

Feeling happy because performing for the team is a next-level feeling - Abdullah Shafique

Abdullah Shafique, who slammed a terrific century, talked about his innings, saying that he is feeling happy because of his performance. He said that he was focussing on the process. He talked about batting with Shan Masood, and said that it's a a great learning moment for him. Speaking after the day 1, he explained:

"Feeling happy because performing for team is next level feeling. It happens (his low scores in three consecutive Tests). It's not an easy game. I was focussing on the process.

"When senior batter like Shan Masood is playing with you, it's a learning moment for me as well. It's hard here in Multan. We have done 4-5 days camp here. Cramps is part of the game, it happens. We are good now."
