Star Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were spotted in a high-intensity net session on Tuesday, February 4, ahead of the first ODI of their three-match series against England. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli showcased a range of shots, including fan favorites, in preparation for the series opener.

The first ODI of the series will take place on February 6 in Nagpur. The remaining two matches will be played in Cuttack on February 9 and Ahmedabad on February 12. This series will be Rohit and Virat's first international outing since the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India lost 3-1 to Australia.

Rohit scored only 164 runs in eight matches across 15 innings, with an average of 10.93 during the 2024-25 Test season. Virat scored 382 runs in 10 matches and 19 innings at an average of 22.87, including just one century and one fifty. The duo will be hoping to regain their form in the upcoming series.

The senior batters, with the focus shifting to limited-overs cricket, were seen putting in intense work in the nets ahead of the ODI series against England. The BCCI shared a video on X (formerly known as Twitter), captioning it, "Nagpur. Gearing up for the #INDvENG ODI series opener in RO-KO style."

Both players have exceptional records in 50-over cricket. Rohit has scored 10,866 runs in 265 matches at an average of 49.16, including 57 fifties and 31 centuries. Virat, on the other hand, has amassed 13,906 runs in 295 matches, with an impressive average of 58.18, including 72 fifties and 50 centuries.

Rohit and Virat Are Not Robots - Kevin Pietersen

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen showed support for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, adding that every player goes through tough phases in their career. Speaking at the launch of Dram Bell Scotch Whisky, Pietersen stated that players are not robots and can't perform perfectly every time.

"Having had exactly the same challenges in my career, it happens. Rohit and Virat are not robots. They don't walk out there and get a hundred every time they bat. Maybe they had one bad Australian tour. Does that make them bad people? No. Does it make them bad cricketers? Absolutely not,” the 44-year-old said [as quoted by PTI].

Rohit Sharma had a strong 2024 in white-ball cricket. As captain of the T20 World Cup-winning team, he scored 378 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.00 with a strike rate of 160.16. He played three ODIs against Sri Lanka, scoring 157 runs at an average of 52.33 and a strike rate of 141.44 with two fifties.

Since the start of 2023, Virat Kohli has scored 1,435 runs in 30 matches at an average of 65.22, with six centuries and eight fifties. During the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, Kohli was the tournament's top scorer, with 765 runs in 11 matches, averaging 95.62. He also won the 'Player of the Tournament' award.
