The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has looked absolutely pumped up in the ongoing high-voltage match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Virat Kohli absolutely lost it after the dismissal of the Chennai Super Kings' opening batsman Rahul Tripathi and was seen giving him an aggressive send-off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.

Rahul Tripathi fails again in IPL 2025

Tripathi was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 3.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. He got the opportunity to open the innings for his team in their tournament opener against the Mumbai Indians with Ruturaj Gaikwad being demoted to No.3.

The 34-year-old failed to repay the faith of CSK management and managed to score just 2 runs against the 5-time Champions. Despite his failure, he got backing to continue as an opener against RCB, and he once again failed.

On the 2nd ball of the second over, Josh Hazlewood bowled a 136.1kmph bouncer to Rahul Tripathi, who got late on his pull shot. The ball hit him high on the bat and went straight into the hands of Phil Salt at midwicket.

As Tripathi took a long walk back to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs off 3 balls, with one four, Virat Kohli was seen giving him a fiery send-off as he said, "B****ch*d Nikal".

Overall, Tripathi has faced Josh Hazlewood three times in the Indian Premier League and has managed to score just 15 runs while getting out twice.

Meanwhile, after the dismissal of Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad came out to bat at No.3 and he bagged a 4-ball duck, being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the same over itself.

Chennai surprised us a little - Aakash Chopra on Rahul Tripathi opening the innings for CSK

Speaking ahead of the CSK vs RCB match, the former India cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about CSK management allowing Tripathi to open the innings. He also speculated a reason behind Tripathi opening with Rachin Ravindra and stated:

"What will be the things in focus from Chennai's perspective? My first question is whether Rahul Tripathi will still open because Chennai surprised us a little in the last match. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra were supposed to come. We were expecting that 'RR' combination, but Rahul Tripathi came, and that surprised everyone.

"However, was that a one-game philosophy, or will that continue for many games in this tournament because Chennai don't change the goalpost very quickly? If they have thought about a pairing or their overseas players, they tend to stay with them for a little longer. Could that be a reason for them to retain Rahul Tripathi so that Ruturaj Gaikwad bats slightly deeper at No. 3 and Rachin bats till the end if Rutu gets out?"
