The 25-year-old Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi looked a class apart for his team in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 against the Mumbai Indians on Friday, April 4.
However, Digvesh Rathi was also seen losing his cool and abusing his teammate Avesh Khan on the field after the right-arm pacer made a silly blunder.

Digvesh Rathi wins PoTM vs Mumbai Indians
Rathi won the Player of the Match award for his sensational bowling performance against the Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
He registered the figures of 1/21 in his four overs and dismissed Naman Dhir at a crucial moment in the game before bringing out a notebook celebration for which he was fined heavily by the BCCI.
Meanwhile, the notebook celebration was not the only time Digvesh showed aggression in the match, as he absolutely exploded in the 18th over of the innings.
On the third ball of the 18th over, Digvesh Rathi bowled a length ball to Hardik Pandya, who played it towards a short fine leg where Avesh Khan tried to pick the ball with one hand but was unsuccessful.
Looking at this, Digvesh Rathi got absolutely furious and he was seen yelling 'B******d' while looking at Avesh Khan. Thankfully, Avesh Khan's blunder didn't cost LSG much as David Miller stopped the ball from going for a four and MI batters just took a double.

"Looks good temperament-wise" - Digvesh Rathi earns big praise
Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, the former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar had lavished rich praise on the LSG spinner Digvesh, saying that he has a great temperament and being new to the scene acts as an extra advantage for him. He elaborated:
"See, couple of things slightly different that work in favour of Digvesh. Number one is, new to IPL. Not many international players have seen him. And not many Indian players have also seen him because he just did really well in the Delhi Premier League.
"Looks good temperament-wise because very rarely do you see a leg spinner operating in the first six overs which he seems to be doing very comfortably. And the third is the skill set part in terms of having the variety. Can bowl both deliveries which can move away from the right-hander can come into the right-hander as well. So, those factors have really been the reason why Digvesh Rathi has looked the part so far for LSG."
Sanjay Bangar also talked about the struggles of the leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League and said:
"The surfaces and the novelty factor has also gone down for Ravi Bishnoi because now teams are lining up against him really well. And he hasn't really added too many variations to the way he bowls. So, clearly, the early mover advantage of having the ball only coming back into the right-hander or leaving the left-hander is not being as effective as it was for Ravi in the earlier years."
