England National Cricket Team suffered a massive blow on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against the Pakistan National Cricket Team. Opening batter Ben Duckett sustained a thumb injury just ahead of the team's batting in the game at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

England National Cricket Team put in the hard yards with the ball in the last two days in the ongoing Test against Pakistan. Opening batter Duckett was there on the field all the time and was actively involved in the team huddle on the opening days of the game.

Just when his batting was about to come, unfortunately, he got injured. It looked like Duckett dislocated his thumb as he took the catch of Abrar Ahmed, who was the last Pakistan National Cricket Team batter to fall. He looked in pain immediately and called the physios.

On the last ball of the 149th over, Joe Root bowled a short ball that was banged into the wicket. Abrar Ahmed arched back and steered it to slip. The ball hit Duckett on the left thumb and got caught in his body. He did some damage while taking the catch and signaled towards the dressing room straight away.

Ollie Pope opens for England in absence of Ben Duckett

Duckett looked in pain, but after that, he didn't come out to open the innings for the England National Cricket Team. In his place, skipper Ollie Pope came out to open the innings for the team, and it was the first time he came to open the innings in his career.

The move didn't work at all as Ollie Pope got out for a duck. The stand-in skipper of the England National Cricket Team was back in the hut in the second over the innings but it's fair to say that it was the brilliance of Aamer Jamal in the field to send the batter packing.

Ollie Pope tried to pull the back of a length delivery around off by Naseem Shah. He nailed the shot to perfection but Aamer Jamal leaped to his right and plucked it out of thin air. The batter bagged a two-ball duck as England National Cricket Team lost an early wicket.

Ben Duckett has been in red-hot form

There is no clarity over the extent of Duckett's injury, and it remains unclear if the batter will come out to bat in the ongoing innings or not. The batter has been going through red-hot form in red-ball cricket as well as white-ball cricket and has been one of the massive reasons behind the team's success.

Ben Duckett played a huge role for the England National Cricket Team in the 6 Tests back home. After that, he was in terrific touch in the five-match ODI series against the Australia National Cricket Team, and his presence at the top surely would've been handy for the team.
