England captain Ben Stokes and onfield umpire Kumar Dharmasena got engaged in an animated word exchange at the brink of Tea on Day 2 of the fourth IND vs ENG Test match. The incident took place during the 38th over of India’s first innings and the reason behind the chat is still not revealed. It was getting dark in Ranchi and hence the lights were also turned on. The English players have been seen expressing their anger at the decision of the umpires.

Ben Stokes had also expressed his disagreement with the decision of the umpire during the third and the fourth Test match. Stokes expressed his thoughts regarding the ball-tracking technology and believes that the umpire’s call shall not be there in the technology.

As per Stokes if the ball is clipping the stumps, then it is hitting the stumps and it shall remain out. However, he faced a lot of criticism regarding the same, and cricket experts believed that technology cannot be always right and ball tracking is only an assumption that the ball will hit or miss the stumps.

India were able to end at 131/4 after 38 overs at Tea on Day 2 of the fourth IND vs ENG Test match. The Indian team would be aiming to put up a big first-innings score in reply to England’s 353 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 54 runs from 96 balls at Tea and is racing towards yet another century. Jaiswal has been brilliant for India in the series so far and is also the main difference-maker in the second and the third Test match.

Ahead of the final ball of the 38th over, Ben Stokes angrily walked towards the umpire and expressed his disappointment while pointing towards something. The commentators were also left clueless at the reaction of Stokes.

England batsman Joe Root was the highlight of the first innings of the fourth Test match. Root was unbeaten on 122 runs from 274 balls and smashed 10 fours during his stay at the crease. He also added 102 runs from 163 balls for the eighth wicket along with Ollie Robinson. Robinson gave brilliant support to Root and scored 58 runs from 96 balls.

England lost the last match against India by 434 runs and suffered a humiliating defeat. The three lions would hope to even the series by winning the fourth Test at Ranchi. However, they were confronted with the same old problem: relying on individual performances. England were 112/5 at one point, and if Joe Root hadn’t made a century, the Three Lions may have finished their innings long before 250 runs.

Apart from Joe Root and Ollie Robinson, Ben Foakes played a knock of 47 runs from 126 balls. Foakes also did a partnership of 113 runs from 261 balls for the 6th wicket along with Root.

However, no one other than these three English batsmen was able to score runs and were dismissed cheaply. The Indian bowlers put up a decent bowling display, wherein Ravindra Jadeja picked up a four-wicket haul, along with Akash Deep, who ended up with 3 wickets.

England were wrapped up for 353 runs, and the Indian squad did not start well, losing skipper Rohit Sharma for two runs. Rohit edged James Anderson’s delivery, which went away from the Indian skipper. However, the Indian squad overcame the early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill contributed 82 runs from 131 balls for the second wicket.

Shubman Gill was looking excellent, scoring 38 runs off 65 balls. The Indian team will be looking to put up a strong batting performance against England in response to their first innings total.
