Young Bihar spinner Suman Kumar grabbed attention with his impressive bowling performance during the match against Rajasthan in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy. Suman Kumar took 10 wickets in an innings against Rajasthan at the Moin Ul Haq Stadium in Patna on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Bihar posted 467 runs in 143.4 overs after being asked to bat. Dipesh Gupta and Prithvi Raj smashed centuries for Bihar in the first innings. Dipesh scored an unbeaten 183 runs off 381 balls, including 28 fours. Bihar then gained a massive 285-run lead, with Suman dismantling the Rajasthan lineup.

Suman took 10 wickets in an innings as Rajasthan was bowled out for 182 runs. The spinner became the third bowler in Cooch Behar Trophy history to take 10 wickets in an innings. He also took a hat trick during the match. Suman became the first player to achieve both feats in the tournament's history.

The left-arm spinner bowled 33.5 overs and conceded 53 runs, including 20 maiden overs, at an impressive economy rate of 1.57. Suman finished with 10/53 in the first innings against Rajasthan during the match. His extraordinary performance pushed his wicket tally to 22 so far this ongoing season.

Suman Kumar Becomes Second Indian Bowler to Achieve This in Ongoing Season

Suman Kumar's 10-wicket haul in an innings is the second instance of such a feat in the ongoing domestic season. Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj had previously achieved the same milestone in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala on November 13.

The match ended in a draw, but Bihar earned three points by leading in the first innings, while Rajasthan received one point. Rajasthan made a strong comeback in their second innings. They posted a total of 410 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Parth Yadav scoring an unbeaten 200 runs off 441 balls.

Rakesh Tiwari, the president of the Bihar Cricket Association, congratulated Suman for his historic 10-wicket haul in an innings. He praised Kumar and hoped that Bihar’s growing cricketing talent would make a significant impact at the national level.
