England cricketer Brydon Carse reminded fans of Ben Stokes’ stunning catch in the first ODI of the three-match series against the West Indies on home soil. The fast bowler stated that Ben Stokes, who pulled off a sensational catch in the 2019 ODI World Cup, would message him after watching the catch.

The Harry Brook-led team defeated the West Indies by 238 runs in the series opener at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday, May 29. England posted a total of 400/8 after being asked to bat first. The home team bowlers then dismantled the West Indies batting lineup, dismissing them for just 162 runs.

I Thought It Was Going Miles Over My Head - Brydon Carse

Brydon Carse admitted that captain Harry Brook had been constantly adjusting his fielding position before the catch. Carse said he initially thought the ball was sailing over his head and went for it with one hand.

"I'll be honest with you, a couple of overs before Harry kept on changing the position. I was either in front of square or behind square, and he was telling me to come in and go back. Actually, that ball, he was like, 'You need to come in, in case they run two to you.

"And then obviously, as soon as he hit it, I'll be honest with you—initially, I thought it was going miles over my head, so I had this one-handed catch in mind. Then, a couple of seconds later, it was still in front of my face, so I decided to just roll with it.

"The lads are already giving me a little bit of stick, saying I’ve put a bit of mayo on it—but yeah, awesome catch, awesome moments in the game."

I’m Sure That Ben Stokes Is Going to Message Me - Carse

Brydon Carse joked that Ben Stokes would reach out to him after witnessing his incredible catch. He stated that teammates had already teased him about it in the dressing room.

"I’ve already been told that inside the changing room. I’m sure that Stokes is probably going to message me after this game, but yeah, I think his might have gone a little bit further behind himself. I might have a conversation with him and say, well look, I took it in a slightly different position to you."
