Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne, on Sunday, came up with a hilarious nickname to motivate his teammate Nathan Lyon on day two of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Over the years, the cricket fraternity has become accustomed to hearing the Australian wicketkeepers trying to fire Nathan Lyon up through some weird nicknames. “Garry” from Matthew Wade and “Gazza” from Tim Paine have been the most prominent in recent times. Some even call him the GOAT to motivate him.

And Marnus Labuschagne has now come up with another nickname for Australia’s most successful off-spinner. During the 55th over of India’s innings, the batsman hilariously called Nathan Lyon ‘Bald Eagle’ while trying to fire him up. Even the commentator could be heard giggling as Labuschagne kept motivating the spinner from behind the stumps.

Here is a clip of the incident:

Talking about the game, India were on 173 for 5 in the 60th over at the time of compiling this report. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane was on 49 while giving him company was Ravindra Jadeja. Earlier in the day, India started on 36 for 1 but lost two quick wickets in the form of Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara to find themselves reeling at 64 for 3.

Hanuma Vihari and Rahane then steadied the ship and took the score past the 100-run mark before the former was sent back by Nathan Lyon for 21. Rishabh Pant looked in good touch but could not capitalise on the start and was out for 29. Earlier in the game, Australia were all out for 195.
