Deandra Dottin came to bat at number four but was dismissed without facing a ball following her bizarre runout. The incident took place during the fifth over of the Melbourne Renegades' innings. The West Indies batter's dismissal led the Melbourne team to further damage with a score of 23/3 in 4.1 overs.

"The big player not getting the bat over the line, caught on the crease ... Dottin out without facing a ball in the WBBL final. It's a little unforgivable for an experienced player to do something as casual as that, she could have been well over the line," Megan Barnard said on Fox Cricket.

"That's almost unforgivable, there was an easy single there. Dottin did not take off at all ... not able to make her ground, geez that is disappointing," Co-commentator and former Australian cricketer Mel Jones said.

Deandra Dottin Had More Than Enough Time to Reach Her End

Lucy Hamilton bowled a full-length delivery to Hayley Matthews, who played it through mid-wicket and called for a quick single. Matthews completed the run, but Dottin, running toward the striker's end, could not cross the line before the Brisbane wicketkeeper dislodged the bails in quick time.

Jess Jonassen picked up the ball and threw it to the striker's end, where the wicketkeeper dislodged the bails. Replays suggested that the player's bat was stuck before the crease and her feet were behind the crease. Georgia Redmayne dislodged the wickets at the striker's end to end Dottin's innings.

Hayley Matthews Scored Crucial 69 Runs in the WBBL 2024 Final Match

After Dottin's dismissal, Georgia Wareham added a valuable 21 runs before being dismissed by Grace Parsons.

Naomi Stalenberg then joined Hayley Matthews, who scored 69 runs from 61 balls, including eight boundaries. By the end of the 20 overs, the Melbourne Renegades Women were 141 for nine.

Charli Knott was the top performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 28 runs in her four overs. Lucy Hamilton and Grace Parsons also took key wickets.
