The star Mumbai Indians (MI) players Deepak Chahar, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya got furious at the young Naman Dhir for his fielding blunder in the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Naman Dhir's big blunder costs MI big time

The incident happened in the 6th over of the innings which was bowled by the new ball specialist Deepak Chahar.

On the 5th ball of the over, Deepak Chahar bowled a short ball to Sai Sudharsan on the middle and leg and the Gujarat Titans opening batsman pulled it towards deep square leg.

Sudharsan was jogging to take a single and looking at this, Naman Dhir sensed an opportunity for a run out from the deep.

He fired in a quick throw towards the nonstriker's end, missed the stumps, and there was nobody to backup.

Neither Hardik Pandya at mid-off nor Rohit Sharma at extra cover were able to stop the ball, and looking at this, the legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar yelled 'Terrible cricket' on air.

Also, Deepak Chahar, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya were furious at the blunder made by Naman Dhir.

Cheteshwar Pujara hails Hardik Pandya

Speaking ahead of the match on ESPNCricinfo, the veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara lauded Hardik Pandya, saying that he brings a lot of experience to the table. He said:

"Well, he's a local boy, isn't he? So, he loves playing at that ground. He has got a lot of experience playing at Ahmedabad. And he holds the key for the Mumbai Indians team. So, I'm sure that he will play a major role. One is, he's an all-rounder. Another thing is, he's someone who has a lot of experience."

Cheteshwar Pujara added that Hardik Pandya is a true impact player and can win matches both with the bat and ball for his team. He elaborated:

"And not just with the bat or a bowl, but the amount of matches which he has played. And he has been there with that franchise for quite a long time now. So, I feel he's an impact player.

"He's someone who will make Mumbai Indians team look a little different. Because all-rounders, yes, with the impact player, the importance of all-rounders are a little less. But still at the same time, someone like Hardik who can win you games with his bowling or batting.

And him being back in the team will make a big difference. I think he will replace a batter. Because you will need another... I'm guessing on that track, they will drop one of the spinners and bring in another seamer. Because on that pitch, it'll be a flat pitch.

"And on a flat pitch, you need an extra seamer rather than an extra spinner. So, yeah. I'm guessing that because Hardik is there, and then if you add another seamer, the bowling line-up will be a bit more balanced. But it'll be a tough call. Because if you're playing at Ahmedabad, you need to be sure of what do you want. Whether you need an extra seamer or you need an extra batter."
