An unusual incident occurred during the Women's World Cup 2025 match between India Women and Pakistan Women at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, October 5. Deepti Sharma accidentally hit Pakistan batter Sidra Amin on the leg with a throw, and the all-rounder did not offer an apology.
The match was the fourth encounter between India and Pakistan in just three weeks. Notably, the Indian team didn’t shake hands with Pakistan players during the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 clash. The tensions continued to carry over to this game in the Women’s World Cup as well, with players again not shaking hands.

India Bowled Out for 247 After Being Asked to Bat First
The controversy began at the toss when Pakistan captain Fatima Sana called ‘Tails,’ but the match referee and presenter misheard it as ‘Heads.’ With the coin landing on Heads, Sana was incorrectly declared the winner, sparking a social media debate.
Tensions continued during the game, with Pakistan bowler Nashra Sandhu giving Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur a stern look during India’s innings. After India secured the win, Kaur and her teammates avoided the customary handshake and walked straight to their dressing room.
India posted 247 runs, with contributions from Pratika Rawal (31), Harleen Deol (46), and Jemimah Rodrigues (25). Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 35 off 20 balls helped the team reach the 240-run mark. For Pakistan, Diana Baig (4/69) and Fatima Sana (2/38) were the standout bowlers.
Pakistan Bowled Out For 159 in 43 Overs
Pakistan lost early wickets, including Muneeba Ali, who was run out by Deepti Sharma, and Sadaf Shamas, leaving them at 20 for 2 in the eighth over. Kranti Goud then removed Aliya Riaz before dismissing Natalia Pervaiz for 33, who had added a crucial 69-run partnership with Sidra Amin.
Opener Sidra Amin scored 81 off 106 balls, including nine boundaries and a six. Pakistan suffered a collapse in the lower middle order and were eventually bowled out for 159 in 43 overs.
Kranti Goud led India’s bowling effort with 3/20, helping India secure a comprehensive 88-run victory. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team reclaimed the top spot on the points table with four points and a net run rate of +1.505.
